About NxtGen+
NxtGen+ (read: NextGenPlus) strengthens technology education in primary and secondary schools. These are schools that find it important to offer students playful knowledge and perspective on the world of technology in preparation for the future. At the heart of this is the following: learning tech competences from practice to contribute to a more beautiful world.
Our team consists of enthusiastic computer science teachers, digitally literate students, IT policy advisers and curriculum developers who only had the opportunity to explore a single technology discipline in higher education. We want to prevent this lack for today’s schoolchildren. Therefore, with the academic and practical knowledge we have gained, we bridge the gap between schoolchildren and technology education. We do this by helping schools apply digital literacy and computer science education through policy transformation, broad modular curricula and digital upskilling programmes for teachers. All programmes are accessible on our digital platform Upskillz, where both teacher and student can follow the modules in class or at home.
For ambitious schools looking to raise their technology profile, we have developed the Tech School concept in collaboration with tech experts. This is a programme with learning lines that brings together the core objectives of digital literacy, the final attainment levels of computer science and the coveted competences from tech practice. Different versions are possible, depending on the school’s needs and ambitions.
As a social startup, we think it is important to support schools at social rates, because we believe every school should be able to offer good technology education to students, regardless of budget.
Why the VU StartHub?
We chose to house at the VU Starthub because we were looking for a startup community characterised by social impact and sustainability. The VU Starthub facilitates us an academic and entrepreneurial network in our capital city in preparation for our scale-up phase. Above all, it is incredibly fitting that our headquarters are on a university campus, from where we want to take Dutch technology education to the ‘NxtLevel’.
